Fontana /f?n'tn?/ is a city of 203,003 residents in San Bernardino County, California. Founded by Azariel Blanchard Miller in 1913,[1] it remained essentially rural until World War II, when entrepreneur Henry J. Kaiser built a large steel mill in the area. It is now a regional hub of the trucking industry, with Interstate 10 and State Route 210 transecting the city from east to west, and Interstate 15 passing diagonally through its northwestern quadrant. It is home to the largest of the San Bernardino County system libraries, a renovated historic theater, a municipal park, and the Auto Speedway on the site of the Steel Mill. Fontana also hosts the Fontana Days Half Marathon and 5K run. This race is the fastest half-marathon course in the world.[11]The United States Census Bureau estimated Fontana's 2013 population at 203,003, making it the second most populous city in San Bernardino county and 14th in the state.[8]Fontana's current economy is driven largely by industrial uses, particularly trucking-based industries. The city is home to several truck dealerships, and other industrial equipment sales centers, and, like its neighbors Ontario and Rancho Cucamonga, many product distribution centers for such companies as on, . The city is also home to numerous small manufacturers of building materials and other locally used products, and many small auto dealerships and salvage yards. Fontana's economy has also heavily encouraged, at least until such activities had been somewhat hampered by the Subprime mortgage crisis, the planning, developing and construction of new housing tracts. The city also has numerous local shopping centers, such as the Summit Heights Gateway/Falcon Ridge Town Center at the north end of the city, and Palm Court in the southern section. The city also features commercial strip zoning along several of its major avenues and boulevards, such as the ""Miracle Mile"" Straddling the 210 Freeway between Citrus and Sierra Avenues. The official Fontana Center is part of that zone, with two major dealerships already in place.

You Can Laugh at Money Worries - if You Follow This Simple Plan

"

So, this is not a loan? Johnny Hunter asked as he leaned back in his chair, crossing his legs. The woman sitting across the desk from Johnny smiled at him, shaking her head. No, not exactly, she stated.Johnny was the owner of a small trucking company which had fallen on some hard times recently. Certainly the trucking business can be an extremely profitable venture, and for many years it had been that way for Nelson. He named his business Campbell Trucking, named after Allan and Gary, his two grandfathers. Both of these men had been very hardworking and had set a great example for Nelson.Six months ago disaster struck Nelson's business when two out of his fleet of fifteen trucks were taken off the road.

One was involved in a very costly accident, and the other simply rolled over, and headed to the trucking graveyard. Johnny depended on his full fleet, and missing two trucks was devastating . In addition, he just did not have the available cash to buy a new truck, plus repair the other one.Paying of bills in the trucking industry is always a major cause for concern for businesses.

Waiting a month or longer for bills to be paid was quite normal. In the long run, this wasnt an issue, but if problems arose, you could find yourself in trouble.Johnny was an excellent business man, and he certainly hadn't done anything wrong. Things had happened that he could not have predicted, and he had to figure out a way to keep his business from hurting, or even going under.Thats where the woman across the desk came in. Her name was Daisy and she worked for a factoring company. He had accidentally come across her company one night when he was working late, searching the internet to see if there was some solution to his financial dilemma. She sat there now, and explained. Its not a loan, we purchase your accounts receivable. We arent giving you money to be paid back later, were buying something from you, and you can buy it back when you can. This is a win-win situation: we are protected from a total loss, and you're protected from the ridiculous fees and charges you'd have to pay if you borrowed from a bank.Johnny agreed. It sounded perfect - perhaps too good?.Daisy laughed. I'm not sure that you believe me, she said.Oh no, I do: it just sounds too good to be true. I actually thought I might end up losing my business.Daisy nodded. We get that a lot. Listen, Id hate to see you lose your company. We know how hard you work, and that you've invested everything in your business. Sometimes you need help. Thats what were here for.""In any case, thank you for coming to see me.""No problem - I'm just down the road. We normally do it all online but I was happy to come and visit you today, Daisy said with a smile. Lets see what we can do to help you.And with that they set about making a profile.

Johnny completed the form, with Daisy offering advice as needed.

The profile filled Daisy and her company in on Nelsons company, and would help them determine if he was suitable for factoring. In truth, not all companies were. Some businesses are beyond the help of a Factoring company, while other businesses weren't in enough financial stress to warrant it. Listening as Johnny filled out his form, Daisy was pretty sure he was a perfect candidate for factoring. When the form was done Daisy took it and slid it into her briefcase. She then stood, reached across the desk and shook Nelsons hand. He stood before they shook as well, and then smiled. They said their goodbyes and Johnny walked her to the door, and then returned to his office. His employees were there, seven who worked in the office, and as he sat behind his desk once more he heard the familiar clack of fingers on keyboards, the electronic whine of the copy machine. He leaned back and closed his eyes. He had felt so helpless lately, was sure the whole thing was collapsing, and would take him with it. But now, after speaking to Daisy and learning all about Factoring, he felt such a huge relief, like someone had just lifted a huge weight off his shoulders. He sat back in his chair and ran a hand through his graying but still thick black hair. The long nights, where he couldnt sleep. The sudden panic attacks, not matter where he was. He could feel it all fading away. He knew it wasn't over yet and that there was still a way to go, but he could just feel everything start to change for him. He was there, he was on the right path, and he was working to make things right. His mind wandered back to the very beginning, when he first started his business. He had opened a restaurant at age twenty two when he was fresh out of school. It had been really successful. Offering home cooking in his own hometown, his business had really prospered. But he had gotten bored. He wasn't passionate about the food industry. He thought about it for a long time, then decided it was time to sell his restaurant. He took half a year off, and in that time he thought to start Campbell Trucking. So he did it. Once again he built a company from the ground up. The business had been an instant success. Then disaster! The two trucks went down and suddenly his success wasn't looking so guaranteed. He was about to turn fifty. He didnt think he had it in him, to save this company. But he couldnt give up. The idea of cutting his losses, shutting down, laying off his workers, it actually made him sick some nights. He did not want to quit - both for himself and for his staff members. And now, because of factoring, he was sure he wouldnt have to. Nelson's eyes opened, he sat forward in his chair and turned on his computer. He had things to do. There would be plenty of time later to be thankful, but for now it was time to get back to work.

Trucking Factoring Companies Reviews

"

Since the mid 1980s Rivera Truck & Haul have been successfully running their freight business. They've delivered goods for nearly every major industry in the nation and for 20 plus years, business was booming as they've traversed the country in all weather for all clients. During the boom times from 2002 to 2007 Rivera Truck & Haul was the mastermind of a top-rated accounts receivable in the trucking industry. Few customers were ever late on bills and those clients who were, were sure to turn in their late payments within a reasonable amount of time. Cash was flowing and times were good for all.But a short year later, in the fall of 2008, when the United States economy took a nosedive and businesses both small and large began to feel the pinch on their pocketbooks, those that used to make their demands had suddenly and largely gone silent. Business slowed down. And worse yet, Rivera had noticed during the early part of 2008 that though the bulk of their clients were always on time with payments, the few late-bloomers there were, had seemingly started to spread this illness. Spring changed to summer, summer changed to fall, and the CEO of Rivera, Willie Day, was beginning to feel very uncomfortable indeed whenever he looked at their weekly Accounts Receivable reports. The number of clients who were late in their payments was continuing to grow.He had already been to the administrators to ask what the actual problem was. Were they doing something wrong or different when it came to reaching out to delinquent accounts? When checking his bookkeeper's records this was definitely not the case. He thought perhaps that he was losing clients to a competitor who offered rock-bottom prices with little to no guarantee of quality performance, and that the folks who owed Rivera money had jumped ship and decided to leave him holding the bag.

. Perhaps they were unable to pay their debt to him, but were able to meet the costs of a lesser service. So he did the necessary research and, after discussions with friends in the same field, he realised that no, his customers hadn't gone anywhere else. They had just gone home.To Willie Day the situation looked desperate. He had employees to pay, goods to ship, trucks to maintain and overhead that was almost unbearable when compared against the lack of funds that were coming in. In the evenings he would discuss his concerns with his wife, Katherine, and still find no relief from the worry and frustration.

""I have a bad feeling, Lin,"" he would say with deep woe.""Well, what do you think it is?"" she would ask.Willie would stare off into the distance, and then slowly close his eyes. In his mind he could clearly see the fleet of trucks purchased over the many years. He could see them traveling, bringing goods to all of his clients. But somewhere, a haze would form over his fleet and the vast number of vehicles would disappear to but a few. What on earth was happening to create the death of his business?""I know what it is,"" said Willie. ""I've relied too long on the profits I receive from invoices alone. For too long I've been allowing our clients to let their accounts become overdue."" Katherine would look at her husband lovingly, and holding his hand would say 'it is such a harsh economy these days and our clients must be having difficulty meeting their responsibilities'.""Willie knew his wife meant well, but he knew that he was responsible for too many people to sit idly by, waiting for the sun to peak over the clouds. The following day Willie walked into his office with a spring in his step, determined to call each and every client who owed money to Rivera Truck & Haul. This wasn't really a very efficient way for a Chief Executive to spend his day, and Willie knew he should be overseeing all the other sides of the business, such as shipments and deliveries, approaching prospective customers, or working with his sales team. But, he felt like he was doing something proactive to help his business, even though he had staff on salary to do just that thing. Wasting money, wasting time - even with the best of intentions, Willie knew that he was in trouble.

Poor Willie spent the whole morning trying in vain to contact his debtors: they promised to call back, dodged his calls, or made small interest-only payments. He was beginning to feel quite despaired when his secretary knocked on his door.

""Willie, can I have a word?"" she queried, standing in the doorway.

""Sure thing Jessica, come on in."" Willie relaxed back into his chair and looked up at Jessicaerley.""Well, I did a little searching this afternoon and tried to figure out a way out of this mess Willie."" She pulled a small stack of papers from a folder and set them on the desk before him.""Have you ever heard the word factoring?"" Jessicaerley asked.""It does sound vaguely familiar. What is it?"" he said.""Well,"" she began, ""Its actually quite simple really.

So basically, factoring invoices would enable us to get paid on the nose for loads that we haul.""Immediately?"" Willie interrupted.""Yes, immediately,"" she continued, ""In a nutshell, it is pretty easy. We can have an expert account manager review our numbers and help us complete a company profile. Included in the profile would be the investigation of our accounts receivable aging reports, our current customers' credit limits etc.. In addition, factoring will assist in determining our customers' creditworthiness, independent from their credit relationship with our company. Its a broad view.""I see, Willie said. And then what?""Well, after their review, and were approved for a factoring contract, we can negotiate terms and conditions. Theres a lot of flexibility depending on the business volume and credit histories. This company tells us what the cost will be to purchase factoring for our accounts receivable. We come to an agreement and the funding starts pouring out.Willie was still a little concerned. He leaned forward in his chair and studied the paperwork very closely.""It sounds too good to be true, Jessica,"" he said.""Now, now, I know, I thought the same thing. But really, they have guaranteed us experts that do all the legwork, which would free us up here to focus on our clients in good standing and marketing, all that good stuff. And they're flexible Willie,"" she drew a circle around a paragraph on the document before him.""How flexible?"" he asked.""They personalize the factoring rates so that the amount they are willing to take on is commensurate with our needs and our clients debt. Apparently they can figure this all out in two to four days.

""It does all sound pretty good, remembering that we are all tapped out now with loans from the bank last year to repair vehicles, and we all know just how tight money is. it is imperative that we keep the business rolling as usual, and every day we go unpaid we are getting closer and closer to dealing with some serious issues in both the short term and the long term,"" Willie said.Willie took in a long slow breath, then looked at his secretary with something like hope in his eyes.""Exactly. This could be the answer to our prayers: it will solve many problems we are facing due to these unpaid debts.""Willie thought about this and agreed with Jessicaerley. The clients who owed them money were long standing friends and professional resources of Rivera. Just because they were experiencing difficulties paying their own bills now, Willie was very concerned about losing these relationships. He was well aware that the economy was in a bad way and that it might be quite a while before things started picking up. If he did not handle these debtors in the right way, that unknown amount of time could spell disaster for all of them. Of course he did not want to lose any more money, but he did not want to lose business either.""Let me go over this tonight Jessica, and thankyou."" Jessica nodded, stood up and left the office feeling that she had helped her employer keep on his shirt and hers too.Willie sat behind his desk and looked over the details Jessica had not mentioned in their meeting. What other issues could freight factoring help Rivera with? With his pencil gliding down the sheet he noticed that the factoring company could help fray the cost of fuel with fuel discount cards and fuel advances. In fact, Rivera could receive up to fifty-percent cash advances upon load pick-ups. As a man who hated binding contracts with no room to breathe, he was pleased to see that this factoring company would not make him sign a long term contract, would not make him pay any sign up fees and there was no minimum volume required.""Well, I'll have to tell Anthony about this,"" muttered Willie to himself.Anthony is Willie's son-in-law, and he really admired the ideas behind Rivera, so much so that only two years before he had started his own transportation service business. At that time Willie knew the struggles Anthony would face, but he still encouraged him to follow his dream. With the faltering economy, if a big fish like Rivera was hurting, a little guy like Anthony was about to catch his death. But, an antidote may have been found in freight factoring and Willie was soon to find out. Some months later, having successfully gone through the entire process of the application, having experts study his credit history and statements and review his accounts receivable, Willie found that he was starting his journey out of the despair which had been created for him by his delinquent account holders. They adopted reasonable factoring purchase contracts and stopped wasting their own precious time trying to collect debts. They took that time and refocused effort to offering competitive prices in new territories. Willie looked back on the dismal months of life before freight factoring and almost shuddered at the thought. He probably wouldn't be in business today had he not learned just in time about freight factoring.

With this type of system, invoice factoring can become extremely valuable for numerous companies who need to avoid a money lure which they have found themselves in.

Given that, basing on the volume of the task, it can take up to 60 days for some firms to get paid out then it is crucial to blanket your own back and definitely not leave yourself money short to pay the bills. After all, how many business enterprises have two months revenue just lying there to pay for all their spendings until they earn?

This is primarily true of trucking agencies. They generally handle good deals of invoices which means a considerable quantity of collection period demands business owner themselves. Trying to get paid promptly can come to be an unbelievable trouble and this is precisely why you work with truck factoring providers who are pleased to help out truckers particularly.

As all of us recognize, trucking is an amazingly huge business with a lot of firms out there utilizing hundreds of vehicle drivers. Sadly, quite a few of these drivers land up in income problems considering that they are still awaiting work from six weeks ago to actually compensate them. When this is the scenario for a trucking agency, consulting factoring providers for solutions might be the ideal option left.

This signifies that a trucking organization can pay the wages of the work force, keep all the vehicles loaded with fuel and continue to escalate, thrive and expand without constantly waiting for the funds which is taking too long to come in. Trucking Firms operating without a factoring system put in place are leaving themselves at substantial risk, as rivals cash out quickly and go on to expand.

There's honestly almost nothing to be troubled about when it comes to employing a Factoring business-- they usually are not like a bank or somebody who is going to leave you with a considerable pile of debt to repay. You give them authentic invoices from output you have already finalized , you are only facilitating the repayment system.

In the Usa, where trucking firms flourish, factoring firms are not considered borrowing in any capacity. This confidential settlement then allows both parties to profit and delight in a good future-- it gives the factoring provider a guaranteed resource of earnings to put into the list and it provides the trucking business the needed money that they worked hard to obtain.

The trucking business gives their invoices to the factoring agency. The trucking factoring provider then take the payment amounts from the trucking company's clients. Factoring has been in existence for centuries and has been employed for many years by a lot of varied business-- but none much more so than truckers. While you might lose out on a small part of the money, something like 1-3 % depending on who you deal with, it signifies that you are getting the finances today and can actually start putting the resources to do work.

After all, an IOU or an invoice is definitely not going to finance bills, is it? For trucking enterprises when the funds can be great one day and gone the next, it is up to the drivers to work sensibly and to make sure they are leaving themselves with a considerable amount of time and money to get through the week until they are handed over once more.

So the next occasion your trucking company is enduring some temporary capital issues and you are spending an excessive amount of time chasing slowly paying clients, why not start off taking into consideration using a factoring businesses as a means to get your money and give yourself a more pleasant future in the eyes of your trucking team and your bank difference?

Trucking Invoice Factoring Companies

"

The Future of a Trucking Company, and Factoring The phone was ringing on his desk, and Victor Perry just sat there letting it ring. He let his morning coffee cool and left his cigarette to ash itself in the tray, because he is trying to make the biggest decision ever for his trucking company. Perry Trucking Company was at a turning point of growth and Victor had to decide if signing with a factoring company was the right way forward.

More than forty years ago Victor's father had started this business working as an owner-operator and eventually growing Perry Trucking Company into a fifteen trailer fleet. Yes, they had survived some very difficult times when it appeared like they might go under, and even Victor's mother had jumped into the cab at times to make hauls. His father had lived long enough to witness the price of hires drop during the recession and watch the eruption of fuel prices afterwards. But now things were different: the company was in Victor's hands and he needed to ensure that this business would be left in great shape for his sons.

To move Perry Trucking Company ahead into the future, he needed a steady cash flow but there was just not enough money to go around. His employees needed to be paid. They had families and household bills too. Some of the refrigerated trailers were in need of repairs and he felt to stay competitive it was also a good idea to invest in specialized haulers to be ready for the constant requests he was getting for loads of new energy and agriculture equipment. Every time he had to turn down a request, Perry Trucking looked weak in a very strong market.

His father would have told him to wait and to take his time adding on new technology. Victor chuckled, thinking about his father. His father had been against placing GPS units in the cabs. His Dad would say ""Why on earth do you need some stranger telling you to get off the exit that everyone knows has been there for years? Also his father had the habit of teasing all the drivers he caught switching into automatic even though driving in automatic was much more efficient though not manly in his fathers eyes. He knew his father's days were long gone and new technology was very important for the business, like having Qualcomm to reduce communication time for bills of lading.

Victor knew he was right in his forward thinking. How would he take Perry Trucking to the next level? And how would he be able to afford it? Business funding was tied up in fuel bills and the mortgage for the garage and office. Thankfully he'd just finished paying off the bank loan for the installation of satellite radio in the trucks.

But was factoring the answer? If he was being honest, he did not really understand how it all worked. It sounded like a ninth grade math problem and he wondered how this would fit into the trucking business. A factoring company actually purchases your invoices and takes control of your accounts receivable, payment being a certain percentage of the amount invoiced. The factoring company gives the trucking business its payment right away which allows the business to have continuous cash flow so it can pay employees, buy fuel, and make repairs for upcoming hauls. Without the assistance of factoring, you have to wait for customers to send you the payment which is often 30 days late. In those 30 days, a trucking company cant pay its bills and employees in invoices.

Now it was time for Victor to do his homework. He had heard of companies charging for same day money transfers, advancing a percentage of the money owed to your business, while the rest is held in a private account if the bill wasn't paid within sixty or more days. Worse still, if the customer defaulted on payment, the factoring company takes it out of the money supposedly coming to you! He'd even heard about some companies putting you onto a sliding percentage scale regardless of any previously signed contracts for possibly 3% or 7%, and there you are now with 10% coming as a charge to you out of the freight bill. His colleague, Ronnie, who owned a trucking company in Missouri, was nearly destroyed by a factoring company who charged him the full freight bill on top of the fees for factoring. He knew he would have to be very careful if he was to avoid any of these shady companies?

But it turned out to be quite easy. When he called the factoring companies he discovered they were very open about their business practices, and very friendly and helpful. Their customer service actually knew things about their company and spoke in nice clear English so he could understand what was being explained. He was quite happy to sign an exclusive contract. In fact, he was quite pleased with the idea of a long-term contract because he knew this was a one-off and he would not have to keep going back and forth to different companies. Nobody charged him for credit checks and they offered him a fuel advance on the pick-up of the load. In fact there were a few companies who offered him a non-recourse factoring program, and this was exactly what he had been hoping for. He was more than happy with the figures he was offered in percentage terms on the freight bills. It was good money.

It was really refreshing dealing with the factoring people. They were more personable than those loan managers at the bank. He was relieved to note that the factoring companies understood the trucking business and discussed business with him like a respected client, not like someone looking for a handout. The factoring companies were not interested in his credit nor the financial problems his father had experienced in the past. All the factoring company was interest in was the credit of his customers and on their reliability: this worked great for Victor because he and his father had created a very strong and loyal list of clientele over the years. So he knew they would understand when the factoring company contacted them for the invoices. His clients would not have any problems, nor would they think poorly of Perry Trucking, because the factoring companies handle themselves in such a polite and professional manner, similar to the way his father had managed the business in the past.

Feeling happier now, Victor stepped out of his office to advise his secretary to expect to receive the contract very shortly from the factoring company. He felt exhilarated by the new possibilities that would make the future of the company fun again and put the stress of the difficult times behind him. He suddenly realized that, with this new cash flow, he could actually expand Perry Trucking Company and who knows, move into Canada, which had always been his dream. His heart felt full knowing his sons wouldnt have to worry about money because of the right decisions he had made for their trucking business.

Traditional Bank Loans

Finance through a bank loan is the normal, or traditional, way of financing your business. While these loans are handy they are not available to every business. For example, a fairly newly established business simply may not have the assets to readily get a loan from a bank, even if they do, the standard collateral for a business loan is the business itself, which means that if you cannot make your loan payment, you risk losing your entire business. In addition, while you apply for a certain loan amount, that is all the financing you are entitled to. Once the loan is paid off, you can then apply for another loan if the need arises.

What Are Trucking Factoring Companies?

Trucking Factoring companies do not give loans, and the money you get from the Trucking Factoring company does not put you in debt. The finance you receive from the Trucking Factoring company is determined by money already earned by your business, but not yet received. The Trucking Factoring company purchases your accounts receivable, or part of them, for a certain percentage of their value - this is normally about 80-95%. The amount of money you can receive is based on the amount of money you have earned and the accounts receivable you are willing to sell. Once a Trucking Factoring account has been created for you, it will continue for as long as you need it, with the money available continuing to grow as your business grows, and providing cash as you require it.

What Are The Benefits Of A Trucking Factoring Company Versus A Traditional Bank Loan?

While not every business can take advantage of Trucking Factoring account financing (you have to have a business that has account receivables) for those that can use this type of financing there are several distinct benefits.

1. You will not Incur Debt. Since the Trucking Factoring company actually buys your accounts receivable you do not actually incur debt like you do with a bank loan. One of the main benefits of this kind of financing is that your business credit rating and your personal credit rating will not be affected. Should the unforeseeable happen and your business fails, you will not have to worry about anyone coming after your personal as well as your business assets to pay off a loan. The debt goes onto your credit report with a bank loan, with only one missed payment adversely affecting your business credit: it would also affect your ability to secure insurance, and may reflect on your personal credit rating as well.

2. No Collateral Required. Another benefit of using a Trucking Factoring company instead of a traditional loan is that you are not required to provide collateral to the Trucking Factoring company in order to secure financing, because the company buys the accounts receivables; not loans you money based on them. In addition, while the Trucking Factoring company does run a credit check on your customers whose accounts receivables are offered for financing, the state of your credit is not an issue. This means that it is easier for new businesses to access the finance they need through a Trucking Factoring company, providing their accounts receivable are in good order. A bank may believe you haven't been in business long enough to be able to cover this risk.

3. Receive Your Money Faster. With a Trucking Factoring company you can actually get the money you need faster. The money will normally be in your account within 24 hours, once the Trucking Factoring company is confident that your customers accounts are likely to be paid. Borrowing from a bank begins with vast amounts of paperwork, the loan must be underwritten, and this can take ages before you're notified if the loan has been approved.

4.Interest is Paid Up Front. With a bank loan interest continues to build, and this has to be paid the whole time you have a business loan; however with a Trucking Factoring company there is no interest - they take it right off the top by deducting it from the total amount of receivable accounts. So you do not have to worry about monthly loan repayments, and you do not have to worry about the amount of interest payable, because all the money in the account is yours to spend.

As you can see from the above, there are some great benefits to financing through a Trucking Factoring company, and not through a traditional bank loan. In addition, there are other benefits that a Trucking Factoring company can offer you, outside the scope of a bank. The main benefit is that once you've sold your accounts receivable to the Trucking Factoring company, you are free from having to collect money owed by your customers. The Trucking Factoring company takes over that chore, since it is now their money to collect. Trucking Factoring companies are very efficient at debt collecting, and this frees up your valuable time to devote to running your company.

In addition, since the Trucking Factoring company evaluates the credit quality of your customers prior to purchasing the accounts receivable you gain valuable information into which customers are likely to pay and which ones are not so likely to pay. While a Trucking Factoring company is not the only way for your business to obtain the money it needs to keep growing, it does offer a type of financing well worth considering.
